Konvert is built to know as little about you as possible. Here is exactly what we handle, why, and how quickly it's gone.

Who we are
Konvert is a free web tool that extracts the audio from a video link and gives it back to you as an MP3, M4A, OPUS, WAV or FLAC file. This policy explains how Konvert (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use this website. Konvert is the operator of the site and is responsible for the information described here.

What we collect and why
We only handle what the converter needs to do its job, and almost all of it lives in the server's working memory rather than in a database. Here's the complete list.

Where data protection law asks for a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in providing the service you request and keeping it safe from abuse. For advertising cookies, where the law requires it, we rely on your consent.
What we don't collect
- No accounts. You never give us a name, email address or password to use the converter.
- No history. We don't keep a record of what you've converted. When a job expires, its link, title and file are gone.
- No tracking by us. Konvert itself doesn't run analytics, tracking pixels or fingerprinting scripts.
- No selling. We don't sell the links you convert or pass them to anyone except the video platform we fetch them from.
- No platform logins. We never ask for your YouTube, Google, Facebook or TikTok credentials.
Cookies and local storage
Konvert doesn't set any cookies of its own. There's no login session to remember.
If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name konvert-theme. It never leaves your device and isn't sent to our server. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Advertising
We don't currently show ads. If that changes, we'll update this section before any ads appear, including how advertising cookies work and how to opt out.
Third parties
The video platform you link to
When you start a conversion, our server fetches the video from the platform that hosts it (today, YouTube). The platform sees a request from our server, not from your device or your IP address. The platform's own privacy policy covers how it handles that request.
Hosting
Konvert runs on third-party hosting infrastructure. The hosting provider processes the data above on our behalf so the site can run, and may keep standard access logs as part of its service.
Links to other sites
Pages on Konvert link to other websites. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Security
The best protection is not keeping data in the first place, so we hold as little as possible and delete it quickly. Job pages use long, random addresses that can't be guessed, files on disk are named after the job rather than the video, and error messages shown to you never include internal details. No website can promise perfect security, but we design Konvert so there's very little to expose.

Download your file as soon as it's ready. After it expires we can't recover it, and you'll need to convert the video again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Delete it, or have it corrected.
- Object to or restrict how we use it.
- Withdraw consent you've given, such as for advertising cookies.
- Not be treated differently for using any of these rights.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, contact us through our contact page. Because we have no accounts and delete job data within about 30 minutes, we usually hold nothing that we could link back to you. If that's the case, we'll tell you.
Children
Konvert isn't directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
International processing
Konvert is available worldwide, and our servers and hosting providers may be located in a different country from you. When you use the site, the limited information described above is processed where those servers are. Where the law requires safeguards for international transfers, we rely on the mechanisms that law provides.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Konvert handles data, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, such as adding a new kind of data, we'll make the update before the change takes effect.
